Chemistry Technician

REHAU, a leading international polymer manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Chemistry Technician at our Americas headquarters in Leesburg, VA.  The successful candidate is a professional who understands and practices the principles of material and product performance evaluation. 


Specific job responsibilities for the Chemistry Technician include:

  • Development and application of material and product/article testing, analysis and reporting

  • Design, application, and analysis of testing and inspection procedures, including the incorporation of customer specific requirements (such as ASTM, ISO, DIN)

  • Problem identification, analysis, reporting, and correction and preventative action methods

  • Calibration and maintenance of test equipment and tools

  • Teaching and training of laboratory practices and methods

  • Administration and planning of laboratory equipment, chemicals and tools

  • Identification, evaluation and selection of third-party laboratories

  • Handling of internal and external audits

  • Knowledge of and adherence to OSHA regulations related to lab safety (tools, equipment and safe handling of materials and chemicals) 

  • Consult and communicate with internal customers and adherence to customer timeline.



Chemistry Technician

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physics, engineering or equivalent level of experience
  • At least five years experience in a polymer materials laboratory

  • Knowledge of ASTM, ISO, DIN, etc. testing methods required

  • Knowledge of OEM performance specifications and experience dealing with customer requirements desirable

  • Knowledge of statistical data evaluation methods as well as data handling software(s)

  • Proficient with common MS Office applications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must work independently, prioritize effectively and plan and execute lab testing with minimal consultation.
